Do your research.

Before applying for an internship, take your time; to learn about the hosting company, the position you’re interested in, and the interviewer. The more you know about the company, the better you’ll be able to tailor your application and make a strong case for why you’re the perfect fit.

Highlight your relevant experience.

When you’re writing your resume, point out any experience or knowledge you have that matches the hosting company profile. Like coursework, previous internships, or extra-curricular activities.

If you don’t have any direct experience, highlight skills you master that are fundamental to the position you are seeking.

Be passionate about the hosting company and the software industry.

Interviewers can tell if you’re not actually interested in the company or the industry.

Invest time to learn about those topics, to discuss them intelligently in your interview. Show the interviewer that you’re passionate about what they do.
